From Humble Beginnings
Thanks to you, Walden’s Ridge Emergency Service (WRES) has grown from humble beginnings in 1976 to a large volunteer membership that quickly responds to contain fires, provide medical assistance, rescue individuals and protect property.
Our highly trained volunteers are your neighbors, friends and family. They are ready to help, around the clock, driven only by a passion to help in times of need.
More than 50, nonpaid, men and women dedicate their time and skills protecting the lives and property of people in the Town of Walden as well as unincorporated parts of Hamilton County on Signal Mountain.
With your support, every year our volunteers respond to more than 300 emergency calls from two locations -- 2100 Taft Highway and 7339 Sawyer Pike.
Chances are you’ve seen then in action:
· Bravely fighting home and structure fires while remaining calm under pressure
· Responding to vehicle crashes
· Providing expert emergency medical services for serious illness and injury
· Extricating the stranded or injured on mountainous terrain
· Safely and effectively mitigating a wide range of hazardous material spills and contamination
We also respond to calls in the Town of Signal Mountain, the Lone Oak Community, the City of Red Bank, and other areas as requested. WRES is linked to almost 40 other departments in Southeast Tennessee, Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama, through the Tri-State Mutual Aid Association.
These mutual aid agreements allow WRES and neighboring departments to support each other during large-scale emergencies or incidents that exceed the capacity of a single department.
